Egg Cream Mask Hydration

This Month’s Lineup – January 2017

Ugh, I can’t believe it’s already a new year! I’m hoping for a good year for my skin especially since so far the winter in Japan is killing it. Anyways, I have added a few new products to my list but for the most part it’s staying stable!

Kiehl's Aromatic Blends: Patchouli & Fresh Rose

Review – Kiehl’s Aromatic Blend: Patchouli & Fresh Rose

Kiehl's Aromatic Blends: Patchouli & Fresh RoseI love Kiehl’s products and as part of my effort to try them all (one day) I tried their aromatic Aromatic Blend body wash Patchouli and Fresh Rose. This Aromatic Blend series had a few different scents but after looking at the Kiehl’s website it appears they have discontinued this series. It can still be found in Japan but in general it’s hard to find at the moment.

My Experience

At the moment, I’m still using this body wash but I am really looking forward to using it up and changing it! The smell of this body wash isn’t bad but for me it’s a little bit too aromatic. If you have asthma, I can see you having trouble breathing with this body wash so please be careful.

As far as the effectiveness of this body wash I would give it about 50%! After using it, your body doesn’t feel clean. It doesn’t dry out your skin but it doesn’t really make it feel nice either. The thing that bothered me most is it doesn’t lather well into bubble. For me, this is very important because I use an exfoliating wash cloth. Another thing that was a major mark against the wash was it froze… During the one cold day in November (about 5 degrees Celsius) everything in our shower room was perfectly fine. Except. Well… Except the Kiehl’s Aromatic Blend Body wash! It wasn’t completely frozen but it definitely had trouble coming out of the bottle. It’s something that when you’re tired, you definitely don’t want to deal with but the next day (when it was warmer) there were no problems.

Would I recommend this? No, I don’t think the Kiehl’s body wash line is worth trying at this point. Considering they took most of the Aromatic Blend washes off their website, I think it says something as well.

Where to Find

At this point, I can only find it in Japanese stores.

Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque

Review – Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque

Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing MasqueKiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque is one of my favorite Kiehl’s products. Kiehl’s is one of my favorite skin care brands from the United States! The company itself is over 165 years old so I would hope they know their stuff. Their products use many natural ingredients like Lavender, Squalane, Calendula, Caffeine and Vitamin C among others. They have a wide variety of products for all types of skin and even have a Men’s skin care line (which my husband loves).

Their Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque is:

  • Formulated with Amazonian White Clay to gently draw out oil, dirt and toxins that clog pores
  • The addition of Oatmeal and Aloe Vera helps to soothe

The overall rating on the Kiehl’s website is almost 5 hearts out of 5 with over 151 reviews. The cost is only $28 for 5 oz of mask. For me this is a pretty good deal, it’s lasted me for a few months already.

My Experience

This masque can last a long time if you use it sparingly. It’s very tempting to put a lot of the masque cream on your face at once but you really only need a little in order to cover your face completely. It takes about 15 min to dry or longer depending on how much you put on. Once it fully dries I found it very easy to wash off (in the shower) but it can get a bit messy if you’re not careful.

I found the masque to sting my face a little upon application but after removal my face was refreshed and looked nice and bright. My pores are also visibly reduced after one application which is great! I think it’s a great item to add to your skin care routine and considering the value I would definitely purchase it again.

Where to Purchase

Like all Kiehl’s products their main website or stores are great places to purchase or try out the products. Their rewards program is definitely worth joining if you’re a fan of Kiehl’s!

On the other hand, if you’re more of a Bloomingdale’s person, they also have this  Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask along with a wide range of Kiehl’s products.

Kiehl's Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash

Review – Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash

Kiehl's Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face WashKiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash is one of Kiehl’s popular face wash products.

Their Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash is one of my top picks. According to the Kiehl’s website the details are below:

  • Gently lifts away impurities, dirt, and oil without stripping skin, safe for sensitive skin
  • Creamy gel formula activates with water to create a rich foam
  • Skin looks instantly refreshed and revitalized
  • Soap Free, Paraben Free

My Experience

As they claim, Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash does great to lift away impurities, dirt and oil without drying out the skin! It also words great on sensitive skin and I have yet to experience any type of irritation. I like the smell (though some people may not) and it definitely leaves my face refreshed and revitalized and ready for the next step of my skin care routine.

One thing that was kind of a turn off at first was the “foaming” part. I’m not a huge fan of gel face wash turning into foam because I felt like it took more time to prepare… but after using it, I fell in love with the results and have been trying to get the rest of my household to use it too.

When I purchased this face wash, I accidentally ordered the bigger bottle thinking it was going to be small. However, when it arrived it was HUGE. I guess I can’t connect 16.9 fl. oz. as a big size but it was definitely bigger than expected.  For facewash $45 is expensive! At least I thought so when I originally purchased it but after using it for 3 months I think it’s actually a great deal. I used to buy face wash monthly for around $7~10/bottle and yearly this adds up to over $100. At the rate I’m using the current fact wash I expect it to last about 6 months and yearly it would only be $90! Not a huge savings but it’s comparable to cheaper products but well worth the upfront price.

Where to purchase:

I recommend buying the Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash directly from the Kiehl’s store or website. Their rewards program is pretty good (yearly depending on how much you spend you’ll get coupons and they also have sales a couple times a year) plus their customer service is great!

You can also purchase Kiehl’s products through Bloomingdale’s which may be preferred if you’re a loyalist member. The price is the same but you’ll receive points from Bloomingdale’s instead.
